Speaking after being recognised, Ritabrata insisted that Mamata Banerjee remained his leader and said he had no intention of splitting the party. The former Left leader, who joined the TMC in 2018, was handed the keys to the LoP chamber and declared that the opposition had fought as a united team. Earlier, rebel MLAs proposed his name to Speaker Rathindranath Bose, claiming to represent the party's "real" legislative wing.
